Tasting Notes
Our 2023 Jacks Falls Pinot Noir displays aromatics of violets and dark cherry. On the palate experience fine tannins and length with flavours of cherry and spice.
Vinification
This parcel of Abel and Pommard clones were hand selected and gently destemmed without crushing into open-top fermenters. Ferments started wild and were then hand plunged. The skins were gently pressed and the wine racked to French barriques for maturation on less with minimal handling.

2023 Vintage
Our 2023 growing season was cooler than expected, extending the ripening season and pushing harvest dates out to the 10th of March.

"This was a slightly cooler vintage with a long ripening period that seemed to have suited pinot noir. Hands-on approach in the winery with open fermentation without crushing followed by hand plunging and gentle pressing. Aromatic perfumed lift of African violet and dark cherry with a subtle spiciness. The palate is medium-weight but firmly structured and poised. It is a wine with the spine and substance to handle further cellaring. Cellar 8 years".

Vineyard
22 ACRES OF MATURE VINES
Gioiello Estate's vineyard is located within the Yea Valley on the Goulburn River, on the lower reaches of 651 metre high Mt Concord. Our 22 acres of mature vines were planted on north facing slopes between 1987 and 1992.
